Rooms and spaces.
Chosen to feel like a home rather than a facility. Nothing described here is accidental.
Bedrooms
Each young person has their own bedroom, decorated and furnished with their input where possible. Bedrooms are private, lockable at the young person's discretion where safe, and considered their space.
Living room
A communal space for conversation, watching something together, or quiet reading. Books and board games are within reach. The television has its place rather than being the centre of the room.
Kitchen and dining
Meals are prepared and eaten together where possible. Young people are involved in menu planning, shopping, and cooking, as part of everyday life and as practical preparation for independence.
Garden
An enclosed outdoor space for fresh air, games, growing things, or simply being outside. Used in all weathers, within reason.
Quiet space
A smaller room for one-to-one conversations, reading, or time away from the group when that is what is needed.
Staff areas
A separate office where records are kept securely and handovers happen without interruption. Designed to keep the home feeling like a home rather than a workplace for young people.
